The Avalon Theatre in Tomar

In the afternoon of last day of the second term, all students of the 7th grade, 8th grade and some students of the 9th grade went to the “Instituto Politécnico de Tomar” to see a play by the Avalon theatre.
The name of the play was “Off with their heads”. It was so interesting, all students enjoyed and would like to see it again. The best part for some students is the possibility that they have to participate in the play. The actors are very friendly and make all people take part in the play.
Why do students like to see plays done by the Avalon theatre very much? The answer is all of us can understand the play and because of that students can be in touch with the English language. Actors speak slowly and this is very important because students aren’t used to listening to native speakers.
I’m one of the 9th grade students that saw the play. We enjoyed the play. We advise students to go if they have a possibility.

On Friday, 23rd March, in the afternoon, the 7th and 8th grade students went to the IPT, on foot, to see a play called “Off with their heads”.
The characters were Queen Elizabeth I and her servant, Toilet, Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterly Rodden.
When Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterly Rodden came back from their explorations gave exotic foods, for example potatoes and chocolate to the Queen.
Queen Elizabeth wanted to discover the New World, so she demanded Sir Francis and Sir Atterly took her and her servant on a voyage. If not, it’s “Off with their heads”.
On their travels, they met famous conquerors like Napoleon, Boudicca, Johan of Arc and Christopher Columbus, played by the students.
The play was fantastic. I liked it very much.

On 23rd March, in the afternoon, the students of 7th, 8th and 9th grade went to Instituto Politécnico to see a theatre play called “Off with their heads”, by the Avalon Theatre Company. The main characters were Queen Elizabeth I, Toilet, a servant, Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterly Rodden, the Explorers.
Toilet is the only servant in the castle, because all the others servants had food poisoning, after eating her food.
Toilet is explaining this to the Queen when Sir Francis Drake, and after Sir Atterly Rodden, appeared. They had three gifts to the Queen: a potato, chocolate and coffee, but she didn`t like them. So they left to discover the “Elixir of Life”. Sir Francis Drake went with the Queen and Sir Atterly Rodden went with Toilet.
In their voyage they found Napoleon, Genghis, Khan, Joan of Arc, Boudicca, Dora, Columbus, Magellan, Sacagawea, Olive and Olaf.
The map to find the “Elixir of Life” started and finished in the same place, so to really find it they had to make something funny to the gods and they sang and danced the Twist.
We, the students, help them, but nothing happened, when Toilet found it she became Lady Toilet.
I really enjoyed this play!

On the 23rd March in the afternoon me and my class went to the Instituto Politéctnico de Tomar to watch a theatre play called “Off With Their Heads” there were four main characters: Queen Elizabeth I; Toilet, a servant and two explorers Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterly Rodden, also known as Utterly Rotten (that’s the way Toilet called him).
All the servants and the executioners had food poisoning because Toilet made dinner for them (she was not poisoned because she didn’t eat dinner she made).
The two explorers gave the Queen three gifts: a potato, chocolate, and coffee but she already had them. She was utterly bored, she had nothing to do. Atterly and Sir Francis were about to sail to The New World when the Queen said “I’m going with you!” they said it was too dangerous but she didn’t care she went with them to The New World.
When they arrived to The New World, they made two groups, Sir Francis with the Queen and Sir Atterly Rodden with Toilet. When Sir Francis and the Queen arrived they saw two ogres, Olive and Olaf. When Olaf saw the Queen he wanted to marry her, but Olive started crying and she punched him. The Queen found a tablet with a map. Sir Atterly arrived. While he was talking to Toilet (Toilet wasn’t listening to him) she found the second tablet, when Sir Francis arrived to the place that the map was indicating he made us sing a song to the gods. When Sir Atterly arrived to the place where Sir Francis was, he made a team with some villains called the Creepy Conquerors. Sir Francis made another team called the Eager Explorers, to see who would win the “Elixir of Life”. They made a dance competition.
While they were dancing, Toilet found the “Elixir of Life” and the Queen made her Lady Toilet.
