On 23th March, we went to see a theatre play called “Off With Their Heads” by Avalon Theatre Company. At 14:30, in IPT, the play began . The four main characters were: Queen Elizabeth II, the servant Toilet and the explorers,  Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterly Rodden ( Utterly Rotter for Toilet).

The explorers gave the Queen a potato, chocolate and coffee. We liked this theatre very much because the characters played with us and they were very funny!

We danced the Twist, made three groups: the Creepy Conquerors, the Eager Explorers and the Executioners (where I participated).

The actors were friendly and played this theatre very well. I liked “Off With Their Heads” because the play had a lot of good vocabulary for my success in the English classes.

On the 23 March we went to the IPT with the History teacher. There were four main characters: Queen Elizabeth I, Toilet, the servant, Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterly Rodden, the explorers. All the servants had food poisoning. The Creepy Conquerors were: Napoleon, genkis khan, Joan of ark and Boudicca.   The Eager Explorers were Dora, Columbus, Magellan and Sacagawea. There were two ogres: Olive and Olaf.  Toilet found the Elixir of the life became Lady Toilet.

On 23rd March (last school day) I went with my class to see a theatre play in the auditorium of the IPT (Instituto Politécnico de Tomar).

The play’s title was “Off with their heads”. The story started with a scene about Food Poisoning. When Sir Francis Drake and Sir Atterley Rodden returned from their explorations, they presented Queen Elizabeth I with new and exotic foods to surprise her: a potato, chocolate and coffee.

Boudicca
The Queen and her servant, Toilet, wanted to know the New World, so they travelled there. They meet unusual creatures like Olive and Olaf, the ogres and also the Creepy Conquerors: Genghis Khan, Boudicca, Napoleon, Joan of Arc and the Eager Explorers: Magellan, Columbus, Sacagawea and Dora, the Explorer.

My favourite actor was Olive because she was short and fat. I spent a good time and it was an opportunity to listen to English actors, because it’s difficult to go to the theatre out of Tomar. This play was very amusing and interesting. I’m anxious to see a new play from this Company.

A thank you note by the Avalon Theatre Company

From all of us at Avalon Theatre Company, a big "Thank You!" to you and all the students who joined us for Off With Their Heads!   It was so much fun for us to perform for such enthusiastic audiences. Also, thank you for the wonderful lunch.  It was delightful to have a chance to speak with everyone and also meet the teachers that were visiting from Turkey, Slovakia and Hungary.  We hope they enjoyed the day as much as we did!

As always, we welcome your (and the teachers) comments so we can continue to make our performances and study guides an entertaining and educational experience for the students.  Please ask the teachers to have students visit our group page (Avalon Theatre Company) on Facebook and leave their comments.

We went to the theatre

On the last school day, we went to the theatre to see another fantastic play by the Avalon Theatre Company. I believe we all had a fantastic, I would dare say funtastic time. Now, we are back at school for the third term, so I have asked my students to write their opinions on the play and here is the outcome.

I would also like to thank all the teachers who joined!
